In Luke 6:27 we read, “but I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who spitefully use you. To those who would listen, He lays down some ground rules. Jesus asked the disciples to do four things to be set of people. Jesus takes for granted that as we live as Christians in this world there are going to be people who hate you, who curse you, who use you in ways you don’t feel comfortable and who consider you as enemies.
Jesus gives some principles to deal with them. He asks us to love them and bless them. These are things which are of the heart. No one sees them but it comes as an overflowing of the love of Christ in you. He gives us some actions to do as well. He tells us to do good to those people in return for the bad they are doing. What’s more? He’s asking us to love them to that extent, to pray for them. Pray for those who misuse you, who mistreat you and who are being spiteful towards you. Are there any such people around you towards whom you need to show the kingdom principles? May God enable you to love them bless them do good to them and pray for them.
